Seminole Hoops League Rules

Playing Time Requirement (All Divisions)

  • Every player must play one full period, from beginning to end, in the first half of the game.
  • All players must be given the opportunity to play in both halves of the game.
  • Alternatively, coaches may split quarters into two shifts. For example, the first five players may play the first 4–5 minutes of a quarter, and the remaining players may play the second 4–5 minutes.
  • Coaches may substitute freely in the second half.
  • If a player arrives late and is not present in the first half, they may still participate in the second half.

Mercy Rule

  • If a team leads by 20 or more points, the game clock will run continuously in the final two minutes of play.

Sportsmanship

  • Coaches are role models. Any coach who condones unsportsmanlike behavior, uses profanity, or encourages rough play will not be allowed to continue coaching.
  • Parents and spectators must also show respect at all times.

Consequences for Unsportsmanlike Conduct:

  1. First offense: One-game suspension.
  2. Second offense: Suspension for the remainder of the season.
  3. Reinstatement requires a review by league directors.

Technical Fouls – Players

  • A technical foul counts as both a personal and team foul.
  • Players may be ejected at the discretion of officials before, during, or after a game.
  • An ejected player must sit out the next scheduled game.
  • Continued issues may result in removal from the league without refund.

Technical Fouls – Coaches

  • A coach receiving a technical foul must remain seated.
  • A second technical results in ejection. An assistant or parent may coach the team.
  • Ejected coaches are suspended for the next scheduled game. Failure to cooperate may result in permanent removal.

Unsportsmanlike Parents/Spectators

  • Any parent or spectator asked to leave by an official or site director must do so immediately.
  • Failure to comply results in forfeiture of the child’s registration and removal from the league.
  • Coaches are expected to help manage parent and spectator behavior.
